The National Association of Radiation Survivors (NARS), a non-profit advocacy group, was founded in 1985 after it separated from the National Association of Atomic Veterans. Its membership includes people who have been exposed to radiation as downwinders, contractors, laborers, accident victims, or through medical treatment or experimentation on human subjects.
